Update #4 (9 weeks to the NJM / LBH Weekend)
Registration: Please check-out the Registration Update posted on www.njmarathon.org. While you are on our website, please take the time to Confirm Your Registration. This will only take a few moments but will make Marathon Weekend Registration much easier!
Marathon Relay: The Norwood Agency-NJM Relay registration is currently well over 100 Teams! The Relay segment of our NJM Weekend is expected to come very close to our 200 Team limit but regardless…we are closing Relay registration at midnight April 19.
Some of the reasons we are excited about the NJM Relay: - allows both the youngest and oldest to get the marathon experience. - allows businesses to sponsor their employees. - allows for whole families to work together. - allows for 26.2 miles to be fun and achievable for the casual runner/walker.
Relay Logistics:
Registration: Team Captain (or team member) may go directly to Bib/timing chip Pick-up (located in the back of the Expo Tent) on Friday or Saturday, May 2, 3. Give your Team Name to receive the complete packet.
Marathon Sunday: - Please wear your Team name on the front of your Tee and a second bib with "RELAY" on the back of your Tee. - All team members may go to the Start Area to watch the Start and their first team member begin the marathon. - Remaining team members must then walk across Ocean Ave. (use the "pink" building as a landmark) for the Transition #1. - After the Transition #1 all team members must go to Pier Village Gazebo on the ocean front boardwalk for Transition #2. - After Transition #2 all 4-person Teams will return to the first Transition location for Transition #3. - All Finishers' medals and hats will be given to the last runner/walker after turning in the timing chip.
Approximate Distances for each leg of the certified 26.2 miles: Leg #1: 5.2 miles; Leg #2: 7.7 miles; Leg #3: 5.4 miles; Leg #4: 7.9 miles
At the Transitions: The runner/walker that is next up will need to transfer the Velcro strapped timing chip to his/her ankle. Runners who have just finished their leg of the race should not attempt to remove the chip.
Volunteer Staff will be on site at each Transition for directions. Please adhere to all directions from the Relay Staff.
Running regards, Art Castellano, Director
