Runners along the Boardwalk

  • Chefs Challenge - On Thursday, April 29th. Fifteen Long Branch Chefs, using Jersey Fresh/Jersey Grown ingredients, will participate in a food preparation competition at the Ocean Place Resort & Spa (host hotel of the NJ Marathon Festival). The food will be sampled and judged by local celebrities and attendees.
  • The Runners Expo will be held on both Friday April 30th and Saturday May 1st in the Atlantic Ballroom of the Ocean Place Resort & Spa (the host hotel of the NJ Marathon Festival).
  • All three Sunday races start at 9:00 am.
  • The race will start in 3 waves: wheelchairs at 8:45am, 5-8 min/mile paces at 9:00am, and after the second wave has cleared the start area the 9-16 min/mile paces will start.
  • Approximately 4.3 miles of the southern end of the 2009 course, in Elberon, will not exist in 2010. It has been replaced by approximately 4.3 mile in Oceanport. An updated course map and elevation profile will be available with the next few weeks.
  • There will be a 6.5 hour time limit for the Full Marathon (9am to 3:30pm).
  • There will be a 3.5 hour time limit for the Half Marathon (9am to 12:35pm).
  • The Marathon Relay leg lengths will change due to the course change. The new distance of each leg is as follows:


    • Leg #1: 9.4 miles
    • Leg #2: 3.5 miles
    • Leg #3: 9.6 miles
    • Leg #4: 3.7 miles


  • Getting to the race by train in 2010.    NJ Transit

    Check out the NJ Transit trains from NY Penn Station or from Bay Head by clicking on the NJ Transit logo above.  The regularly scheduled trains will make their normal stops along the North Jersey Coast Line route and can be boarded at the nearest station.  Please note: It is most cost effective to purchase a round trip ticket - to and from Long Branch Station.
  • Watch the race on-line! - NJ Discover will stream live video of the New Jersey Marathon on NJDiscover.com on May 2, 2010.

    Portions of the race and expo will also be placed on Facebook, YouTube, and the New Jersey Marathon website for everyone to enjoy! The race will be available on NJDiscover.com 24/7 for 6 months!
